Members and Guests,

Carolina Golf Club will co-host the 2018 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship with Charlotte Country Club.   Players will begin arriving onsite on Thursday, September 20th to play practice rounds.  The two stroke play rounds at CGC will occur on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd.  After those two rounds, the field will be cut to 64 and those players will then complete in Match Play at Charlotte CC for the next 4 days.

This is a major national event and undertaking. We need to engage approximately 250 volunteers and would like to recruit a high percentage of these volunteers from CGC membership and family members.  We would like players to leave CGC on Sunday impressed with both our golf course and the hospitality of our staff, membership and volunteers. We have several different opportunities, including:
  • Walking Scorers: one each will be assigned to each pairing each day (44 per day).
  • Walking Forecaddies: two each will be assigned to each pairing with responsibility for spotting tee shots for their group.
  • Parking and Transportation Assistants: approximately 9 per shift to assist with parking players onsite at CGC and Volunteers offsite across Old Steele Creek Road.
  • Greeters: Approximately six per shift to greet players and families as they enter CGC clubhouse area and assist with any player needs during their visit onsite.
  • Marshalls; assist with people and traffic flow around clubhouse and 10th tee area.
  • Practice Area Assistants: assist with continuous flow and player needs around practice areas.

Volunteers will be provided official uniforms (shirt, jacket, & hat), for this you will be asked to pay $75 when you register.  Additionally, those who volunteer for two shifts will go into a raffle pool with drawings held periodically for:
  • Top quality Drivers
  • Wedges
  • Putters
  • Complimentary rounds for 4 players at Charlotte CC.
